Elders playing with baby carriers as we are putting together the exhibit

  1. Here are Hmong elders that helped to put together our exhibit on daim nyias or Hmong baby carriers. In this short piece you get to see the elders teaching us about the baby carriers.

  2. What a great video!

A tip for you as you post videos: rather than putting your description about the video as a comment, it's more effective to include it as the text that accompanies the blog entry, so that when people view the blog they see what you have to say about the video AND the video. This helps give some context before watching the video (and even as you watch it). Also, people will definitely read what you say then. Otherwise they may miss out what you wrote unless they click to view the comments that go along with the entry, as they may assume that the comments are from others with their reactions to your entry, rather than the comments being by you and integral to the blog [does that make sense?]. For the blogs by our class members I try as far as possible to click on and read all comments, and not just read the blog itself, but in order to do this I have to go to the blog itself to read the comments. But for my other blogs I often read them directly in my Google Reader and not from the blog itself. If the blog author has added follow-up comments to the blog using the comments feature, I won't see them.

  3. As a “next step,” Matt, you may want to consider adding either a transcript document to the post or subtitles to the video for reasons of accessibility. I believe this would make your blog post more useable for more people with various needs.
